Dr. Jennifer Martin
Dr. Jennifer Martin
Senior Veterinarian, Co-Owner
- Pronouns: She, Her -

Dr. Jennifer Martin grew up surrounded by dogs and cats, and never forgot the deep comfort and love she felt from those childhood pets. As she grew a bit older, she started to develop an aptitude for math and biology. Working in veterinary medicine simply made sense—Dr. Martin has never wanted to do anything else! Now, she’s owned three veterinary clinics and has enjoyed many wonderful years helping pets and their families live happier, healthier lives. She’s the co-owner and senior veterinarian here at Wise and Wonderful Integrative Veterinary Center.

Dr. Martin grew up in Southern California and attended the University of California-Davis to study biology, spending a year as an exchange student in Bordeaux, France during her undergraduate career. After graduating from veterinary school in 1991, she returned to Southern California and worked with a wonderful mentor there for five years. Next, Dr. Martin relocated to Oregon and bought a clinic near Portland—she would serve pets and their owners there for the next seven years before selling the practice and taking a sabbatical in France.

Upon returning to the United States, Dr. Martin settled in the San Francisco Bay Area and launched her own house call practice from scratch. Along the way, she pursued advanced studies in traditional Chinese veterinary medicine at the Chi Institute in Florida. Dr. Martin then got the opportunity to use her integrative medicine skills at a large specialty practice, deepening her experience with acupuncture and herbal medicine. It wasn’t long, though, before she started to miss the independence of owning her own practice. That’s when she moved to Santa Rosa and purchased Wise and Wonderful Integrative Veterinary Center with her husband.

Aside from her interest in alternative modalities like acupuncture and herbal prescriptions, Dr. Martin enjoys geriatric care, and she’s also passionate about using Fear-Free techniques to help fearful or anxious pets have a better experience here at the clinic. Above all, she likes to know that she’s making a lasting difference in the lives of the area’s pets and their families!

Dr. Martin has two children, Marlena and Mick, as well as three wonderful step-children named Claire, Guillaume, and Julien. She and her husband—Francis, the hospital’s co-owner and manager—also share their home with several pets: Bella, a Black Lab who will eat anything and everything; a neurotic Terrier mix named Felix; an aging cat who goes by Joey; and Bun Bun the rescued rabbit. When she has a spare moment between her duties here at the clinic and her busy family life, Dr. Martin enjoys cooking, relaxing with a good book, swimming, and practicing yoga.

Dr. Ruben Quinonez
Dr. Ruben Quinonez
Veterinary Chiropractor
- Pronouns: He, Him -

Dr. Ruben Quinonez pursued veterinary chiropractic care for one reason: the impact this kind of treatment had on his own dog, Rajah, during the final years of her life. Rajah suffered from degenerative myelopathy, a spinal cord disease similar to ALS—also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease—in humans. The way that only a month of chiropractic adjustments improved Rajah’s quality of life, returning her to the happy, energetic, and loveable dog that she had always been, made a permanent impression on Dr. Quinonez. He knew that he wanted to help others’ pets in the exact same way!

Dr. Quinonez grew up in Fort Bragg, California until graduating from high school, when he moved to Santa Rosa to attend junior college. He attended human chiropractic school at Palmer West College of Chiropractic, completing his externship with an animal chiropractor as he finished up school. Next, Dr. Quinonez attended Options for Animals College to study veterinary chiropractic, graduating six months later and becoming certified through the International Veterinary Chiropractic Association.

Dr. Quinonez was introduced to Dr. Jennifer Martin through a mutual friend, and the two quickly connected over their positive past experiences with animal chiropractic care. He couldn’t be happier to serve the pets and animal owners of the area with his skills—Dr. Quinonez loves helping pets with a drug-free, hands-on approach, and he always finds it extremely rewarding to benefit an animal who can’t necessarily verbalize their pain or discomfort.

When he’s not at work, Dr. Quinonez enjoys spending quality time with his family and girlfriend (a chiropractor in the human healthcare world!), and working on training and agility with his energetic Boxer, Cassius. Together, Dr. Quinonez and Cassius hope to enter dog sporting competitions very soon and win multiple titles!
